Our Background
Over the last four years, the SAINT INTERNATIONAL-organized STYLE WEEK JAMAICA has evolved into the Caribbean’s most prestigious fashion event. By virtue of its unparalleled commitment to the development of the local fashion industry and its players-fashion and accessories designers, photographers, hairstylists, fashion stylists, it is considered as the most important fashion platform for new and established creative talent. Annually, the event is patronized by 25,000 passionate fashionistas. The three signature events are all in their own league- The innovative International Men’s Collection, The International Mecca Of Style to the world acclaimed FASHIONBLOCK.
THE GLOBAL STYLE PROFILE Over the years, the organizers have created an international point of reference for the Jamaican designers by inviting world class designers to showcase at STYLEWEEK JAMAICA. International media has felt the allure of the dynamic runway presentations for STYLEWEEK JAMAICA. This year, over 70 fashion media outlets from Asia, Europe, Africa, The U.S and The Caribbean will be covering the activities at SWJ 2K10.
TRENDSETTING APPROACH Since its inception, the organizers of STYLE WEEK JAMAICA have invested heavily in establishing a strong development component to benefit the designers at the event. In 2006, history was created in the Caribbean at SWJ when facilitators from Parsons School Of Design-The New School, were brought in to conduct seminars at the event. This year a new project STYLE ME JAMAICA will be launched at the Fashion Summit. Issues to be covered this season include Establishing and Managing the Global Fashion brand, Understanding International Trends, Sustainable Design development among others. Many of the international designers coming for SWJ ’09 will also be participating strengthening the core of presenters.
The Fashion Summit is another innovation as STYLE WEEK JAMAICA seeks to increase the interaction among all the stakeholders in the industry which can profoundly enhance the long-term development of the industry. The Summit will bring designers face to face with a number of important Government institutions and stakeholders in the industry.
STYLEWEEK JAMAICA 2K9 is here and once again the global spotlight will be on Kingston witnessing the World’s Iriest Fashionweek in the Trendiest Island City-Kingston July 08 - 11,2010.
